After a 30 minute weather delay, the MCS lady Eagles found themselves in a tough game with a very good Cincy Spirit team. The ladies had trouble getting the ball up the field with any consistency in the first half. This lead to a lot of pressure on the defense. The repeated pressure ended up resulting in 5 first half goals. One goal came after goalie Skyler Harmeyer came out to challenge a ball and made a great save to clear the ball. Unfortunately, the opposing team was there to control the ball and put a shot on goal. Harmeyer wasn’t able to get back in time and even with a great effort by Anna Crawford to head the ball away, the shot went in the goal. Adjustments that were made at halftime seemed to have helped. The Eagles held the Spirit scoreless in the second half, while countering with several good scoring opportunities of their own. However, all of those chances came up short. While Harmeyer tallied 11 saves in goal, Crawford led the team with 23 defensive stops. Hannah Sponsel added 20 and the Pagnard duo of Ari and Beau helped down the outside positions.
